Tented houses
When I was a child I always thought they looked like fun to play in.
Creature
I met Creature soon after moving back to LA at this skatepark in Highland Park. While most of the other kids dawdled about drinking 40s of King Cobra and smoking weed, Creature was busy shredding. He often stayed until after sundown, ripping around the bowl, ever-enthusiastic about skating.
Check out a full photo set of Creature on my website.

Just another day at work.
I’m getting excited to go back to LA and see all the homies again.
Here is a shot of my buddy Nalin at a shooting range in Inglewood that we went to.
He was a little taken aback by the power of a .357 Magnum.
It’s a rainy day in New York. At first I thought the upstairs neighbors were just at it again, shuffling furniture about, but it turned out that it was torrential rain and thunderclaps.
After the brutal heat of the past couple days, I can’t complain about the rain, especially because it means my garden has been watered for me.
I’m loving these summer days!

A Trumpet Blast
This photo was taken at a performance by L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, which followed the US premiere of Agostino Ferrente’s documentary chronicling the orchestra’s formation and progression as a musical group.
L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio began as a group of musicians from disparate backgrounds coming together in a community with no defined nationality to build upon each other’s love of music. Nearly all of the musicians being immigrants new to the Italian tongue, their only form of communication was through the common language of music. The language barrier brings up challenges, as well as moments of hilarity, to their efforts toward developing a musical ensemble representative of all the unique perspectives contributing to compositions they perform.
You can listen to their music here.
Watch the documentary about them on Netflix Instant.
I met John at a pub in Turners Falls, MA when I was 16 years old. We were both laughing at the antics of a couple of young drunk guys, and started talking. He saw my camera and told me I should photograph the two jokesters in front of us. I asked if I could photograph him instead.
He said “sure, but I won’t smile.” The drunkards must have done something funny, because this picture of him holding a cigarette is still my favorite genuinely happy portrait I have taken.
